What a fantastic 24 hours for Team GB!! Olympic fever is well and truly amongst us and true British spirit is flooding the streets and arenas of the Olympic Park. Even sitting at the Believe Eve HQ, I can hear the faint sounds of ‘whooping’ and ‘yayying’ every so often as we win ANOTHER Gold!
Just as I write this we have won a gold medal thanks to Grainger and Watkins in their triumphant Women’s Double Sculls final. And what’s more we have hopefuls headed for Gold in the coming 48 hours with the start of the Athletics and Swimming finals looming tonight! It really is an exciting time for Team GB and what a year for Great Britain! The Jubilee and the home of the Olympics!
My favourite event so far has to be the amazing Bradley Wiggins winning gold in the Cycle Time Trial. Not only did Wiggins win the Tour De France but he has walked away from the Olympics with Gold – the first man ever to achieve this. The nail biting experience was enjoyed at Believe Eve as we all huddled around iPlayer in the hope of watching the events unfold as they happened and albeit slightly behind schedule with various buffering and loading symbols encompassing our monitors we watched with baited breathe as Wiggins rode the final 500m.
A sense of pride and adrenaline as Bradley crossed the line and cheers throughout the office; just a tiny snapshot of the celebrations, not forgetting the feeling running through Wiggins as he looked at the clock and crossed over the finish line. He had done it again. Could it get any better?
I am sure as we reach the end of next week and the Closing Ceremony looms there will be many unforgettable moments and many proud moments, Proud to be British and proud of our team. Keep it up Team GB! Our greatest team.
